I have been invited (by the infamous famous Bernie Kelly of Global Immersions) to come along as “official photographer” on their December 2014 Kenya/Tanzania Leadership Expedition.

Global ImmersionsGlobal Immersions run leadership programmes in Australian schools and coordinate “life changing” leadership excursions to places such as Africa, Nepal, India and Peru, to challenge high school students and young adults by making them learn a bit more the world, and more importantly, about themselves…

I am honoured to be a part of this years African Immersion excursion – accompanying nearly 50 young adults on an experience of a lifetime, and recording as much of it as I can on “film” (well digital actually) as a permanent reminder of their experiences.  Those on the trip will be working closely with the school of St Judes in Arusha (Tanzania) and will also run classes and facilitate a sports day for some other local schools in the area.

Elephant SunsetThe highlight (and biggest challenge) for many will be a 6 day trek to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro (at 5,800m the worlds highest free-standing mountain), and there will of course be ample opportunity to experience wildlife in the famous Ngorogoro Crater and Tarangire National Park, before a well deserved “rest” on the island of Zanzibar…

Africa is famous of course  for  it’s Wildlife and Landscape photography opportunities, and that is going to be awesome I am sure….But what I am looking forward most to is the People…. the locals (particularly the kids) and their interactions with our group.

I have created a broad outline of my Africa 2014 itinerary, but this is subject to change depending on a whole lot of factors…. I hope (internet access permitting) to update this site with stories and photos of my exp[experiences every couple of days… so check out andyaway.com.au regularly.
