Just a short drive to Wanaka today (70ish Km) so we had a bit of a lie in (although the clocks changed to daylight saving so we lost an hour overnight too) – had bacon, eggs & frenvh toast to breakfast, and headed up over the Cardrona Pass – which still had a fair amiunt of snow. Stopped again for snow fights and a snow man.
On the way we also stopped at Cardrona Adventure Park – for some quad biking (Rory became an honorary 12 yr old so he could get a decent quad)…. Absolutely awesome fun… after a rather scary briefing and a bit of a tentative start – the boys quickly got accustomed to the bikes, and were racing around in the mud and water…. Awesome fun… we went on a 1 hr guided safari through creeks and mud puddles and hade LOADS of fun !!!!
On to Wanaka where we checked into Top 10 – overlooking the lake with panoramic mountain views – just magic. Checked out Paintball (but it was closed – much to Jamies disgust) so went to Have a Shot for some archery and small bore rifle shooting (Rory was 12 again) – once again excellent fun.
I thought about staying here 2 nights – but after reviewing the map, this would give us a six hour plus drive to Christchurch on Tuesday, so I think we will head off in the morning – take our time – stop along the way and see where we end up – possibly Twizel or Fairlie (which is quite close to Geraldine).

Well hello .. gosh it all sounds so much fun. I can’t believe how much NZ has to offer … so many things to do!!! AND you and Rory did the bunji jump ….DAREDEVILS!!!! I think I’d be scared watching the video … but I will 🙂
We had a lovely weekend at Dad’s.
Its just so relaxed there and we were quite happy to sit and just chat at his outdoor patio. And he took us for drives up the coast to see the beaches and real estate.
We downloaded your day 1-5 for him to read while we were there 🙂
