Ta Prohm is “famous” for being the location for filming of some of the amazing scenes in the Angelina Jolie “Tomb Raider” movie, -a movie that has been credited with raising the profie of Cambodia, and the Angkor temples in particular.

Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor’s most popular temples with visitors.

Because this temple has been left largely untouched (although recent construction and “saftey” barriers to protect the site from tourists – and vice versa – have changed this a bit)  you get a real sense of being in an ancient temple and seem to have a greater sense of the history and a feeling of “exploration” than  youg et at many of the more “restored” temples.

Ta Prohm has been my favourite temple so far….
